Las La Montgomery here with another episode of the China History Podcast.

We return today after a one-week hiatus from the history, and today we will look at the fabled Three Kingdoms Period, the San Guo Shur Dai.

This was a period of about 60 years that lasted from the time of the last Han Emperor

Shienti, who abdicated in favor of Tzau-Sau's son, Tau-P in 220 AD, until the time of the fall of the eastern Wu by the forces of the Jin dynasty of the Simma family.

Then we'll go beyond the three kingdoms period and look at the time of all these

smaller kingdoms and various dynasties that preceded the later unification of China under the Sui.

The three kingdoms were Wei Shu and Wu.

There were three families, Cao, Leo, and Suin. However, for the Three Kingdoms Period, we often

refer to the contenders as Tsau Wei, Shuh Han, and Dong Wu.

The northernmost and most populous, the Tshaul Wei,

was called thus to show the linkage between the Wei Dynasty

and the Tshaul family who founded it.

The Shu Dynasty, out west in Suu Quan to cement its own

claim to legitimacy was called the Shu Han. Remember the Shu Dynasty was found

by the great Leo Bei.

Now if you recall, the Han dynasty was founded by the Leo family.

Remember Leo Bang?

He was the founder of the Han dynasty who later reined as the Emperor Han Galzu.

Well, Lio Bay, some 475 years later, using this proven lineage to the Han Emperor

Jing-Di D claims his legitimacy by linking his Shoo Kingdom to the Han, calling it

Shoo Han.
