Summary

On June 19th 2020, Regan Russell was killed. ⁣⁣An activist since the 1970s, she was at Fearman’s Pork slaughterhouse with Toronto Pig Save for a regular vigil. During these vigils the activists have an agreement with the slaughterhouse where the trucks stop outside for 2 minutes, so the activists can approach and give the pigs water and show them some comfort. obviously I'm going to talk about issues related to you know what's happening in the vegan

world but I really wanted to use this podcast to pay my respects to

Reagan Russell and now I'm sure a lot of you have heard by this point because it

happened a couple of weeks ago now but Reagan Russell was an animal rights activist who sadly was

killed outside of Fearman's slaughterhouse in Burlington Ontario in Canada so just

outside of Toronto and actually this particular

slaughterhouse Fearmans is the slaughterhouse where the save movement movement

started. It's where the first vigils began taking place and in terms of like

slaughterhouses around the world for animal rights activists it's one of the

most notorious several years ago. One of the pig trucks had crashed just by the slaught house

when the activists were there.

And some of the scenes from that day were just horrendous.

pigs being killed in the middle of the streets,

pigs trapped in the trucks, a really harrowing day.

And it's with great sadness that I talk about another very harrowing day that's happened at this

slothouse and where unlike all the pig lives that have taken on this particular day

a human life was also taken as well killed by a truck driver.

Regan had been an activist since the 1970s and animal rights activist and she'd also

engaged in human rights activism and animal environmental activism as well of course and so she'd been very prolific in standing up for social justice and issues of significant importance of course and she'd been at Fermans she'd been going to Toronto
