Today we'll be telling the story of St Boniface, whose feast is celebrated on June 5th.

St. Boniface was born during the 7th century in Devon, England.

His birth name was actually Winfred.

After he became a priest, he traveled to Rome where Pope Gregory II renamed him Boniface after Saint Boniface of Tarsus.

His family in England was wealthy and well respected.

And when Saint Boniface showed an interest in the monastic life, his father was very disappointed.

Undeterred, Boniface received his religious education from the Benedictine Monastery and became a priest at age 30.

Pope Gregory II appointed Boniface as a mission. and became a priest at age 30.

as a missionary bishop to North Central Europe

and the Germanic people.

St. Boniface helped to shape the church in Europe

and is known as the apostle of the Germans.
