Summary
This episode we're discussing our YA book of the month (even thought it's not really YA if you ask us), Circe by Madeline Miller. While a knowledge of Greek Mythology is definitely not mandatory to enjoy this book, if you loved mythology in school (we did!) this book will feel like a deeply personal reunion with all your mythology favs. We loved this book!!!
We recorded this episode in Grace's parents' living room on Cape Cod. Cape Cod was both of our highs of the week - Grace came for a week and Becca came for the weekend. So nice to get a little sunshine and relaxation!
Join us on August 22nd for our next Book Club to discuss Circe by Madeline Miller. And we will be putting out a call on Instagram for questions for our next advice episode!

| 0:00.0 | Hi everyone, welcome back to Bad on Paper Podcasts. I'm Grace Atwood and I'm back |
| 0:23.5 | of Freeman and today we are here to talk to you about Cersei. Yeah, you got it right. |
| 0:29.1 | Did I get it right? I'm really working on my pronunciation. We had to Google it this |
| 0:32.8 | morning because Grace and I got in a spat about how you pronounce it. So I Googled a |
| 0:38.2 | YouTube video of the author saying the name of the book, figuring she would know best. |
| 0:41.8 | Well then we had my mom telling me it was said a different way. She said Cersei. And then |
| 0:46.6 | I looked up like the official pronunciation of the goddess and they said, Kierke. Kierke. |
| 0:52.2 | They did not say that. It did. I swear to God. Anyway, we're here in Cape Cod. We might have |
| 0:58.2 | some ambient background noise this episode. It is a rainstorm. And the dog is scared so she's |
| 1:04.0 | panting. So we're hoping we don't pick up those noises but we might just so you know what they are |
| 1:08.5 | if there's like a panting dog in the background. Yeah. She's like cuddling with me. Yeah, they're best |
| 1:14.3 | friends. So before we talk about the books, we talk about highs and lows. Yes. So my high is |
| 1:22.5 | that I've been home on Cape Cod all week. We both leave tomorrow. I have had the best time. It's |
| 1:29.2 | been so nice being with my parents. My sister was here for the beginning of the trip. And there's |
| 1:34.5 | just no place like home. So it's been really good to be here. And then Becca joined for a few nights |
| 1:39.1 | at the end of the trip, which has also been nice because it's good to have a friend here. |
| 1:43.0 | My parents are currently on like a hot date night right now. They look so cute. They look so cute. |
| 1:48.0 | They went off to they belong to this yacht club. It's not really a yacht club. It's like a cute little |
| 1:53.4 | club with like boats and things. And they had the Commodore's ball tonight. So they got all dressed |
| 1:59.4 | up and they just went off. And so we're recording the podcast and then we're going to go have a fun |
| 2:03.8 | dinner and go out for drinks. Yeah. My high is also Cape Cod. I used to come here as a kid and then |
| 2:12.1 | came here. I used to live in Boston after college a lot. So I have like a lot of |
