All right, so I'll start it off.

In a city of the future, it is difficult to come. All right, so I'll start it off. We're here today with an old friend of ours, Malcolm Harris.

He's an author, former editor at New Inquiry, former Gorilla Radiohead Promoter,

and now you've written this huge book, which is a huge success.

Some are saying this year's dawn of everything,

but I want to start off by asking, how is it being received in Palo Alto?

Mm. That's a good question. So far, so good, I feel like. I've had a variety. I did the launch, you know on the the release day in Palo Alto's

one remaining bookstore that is across the street from both Stanford University

and the place I went to high school.

And that was packed. It was really fun. It was like, you know, my elementary school principal came.

It was a bunch of like people I knew from growing up.

There have been a few people who are upset at the idea

that Palo Alto isn't sort of like the hippie enclave

that they experienced it as growing up in like the second half of the 20th century.

So a little like reactive criticism in those terms and same with my I guess you could say my use of the suicides in

Palo Alto which I tell as part of the story and there's been a little bit of

a reactive response from Palau, elements within Palau

saying like, don't do that, don't use our story, don't whatever, work it into your ideological

frame.

And I have to sort of, I've had to remind people that like, that's my story too.

Like I grew up there, those were my classmates, like you can't lie to me about what happened because I was there I remember it but overall it's been pretty
