With very successful, hard charging people, their self-image has a tendency to be out of proportion with, let's say, reality, where they have such an incredible high expectation on themselves that what happens is the bar is so unreasonably set that no matter how well they do, they don't feel like it's enough.

That has a tendency then to snowball into self-criticism where you didn't get the gold,

but you know, you still did kick ass and you don't even get to stop and pat yourself on the back for the winds.

That sometimes sabotages those who are excelling because you never stop to say,

look at all I have accomplished.
