But you have all these kids now that are losing their faith, and our impact for the kingdom could have multiplied into the next generation.

What's up, guys? Welcome to another five-minute fatherhood. So we want to talk about raising spiritual champions, according to Barna Research.

0:18.8

So I don't know if you guys have seen this book, Revolutionary Parenting.

0:21.7

It's a few years old, but it was done after a lot of research into what really causes children

0:27.2

to typically hold on to their faith. The research showed that that 61% of 20-somethings

0:34.0

were spiritually disengaged that grew up in families that were very faithful.

0:39.4

1:14.4

And so when they actually studied the impact that the church was having on the family,

1:19.5

it was influential on the parents, but it didn't tend to have as much of an influence on the children

1:23.7

as they had expected, or as certainly as the family did.

1:28.7

A second takeaway is that our research found that parents are more likely to raise spiritual champions if they accept

1:32.5

the fact that from day one, their parenting efforts will stray from the norm and will put them

1:37.1

at odds with parents who are pursuing a more conventional approach. So this is a big thing we talk a lot
