You're listening to Something's Off with Andrew Heaton. I'm glad that you've returned.

This is our second episode. First episode went pretty well, but it was a little stilted at times.

I think that's for a couple of reasons. We were using Skype, which meant that there was a little bit of lag time,

and that was augmented by the fact. I don't know if you know this at home but for

tax purposes I actually broadcast out of the 1960s because the you know just

various reasons but when you're when you're trying to time travel a podcast and interact with Skype, then you tend to step on each other's toes.

So hopefully we won't have that issue today.

The other thing was this, my background is as a stand-up comedian and as a sketch comedian, both of which you're constantly

getting auditory feedback from the people around you and so this is terrifying and

it probably doesn't seem that way to you at home because there's just a guy talking to you, right?

But from my perspective, I'm just hearing dead silence all the time.

And so I walk off and go, oh God that was terrible no one laughed I you might have I don't know

But anyway, I'm more loosened up now. I'm more confident and I think I'm even taller

So today should be a lot of fun.

And today is going to be a really cool episode.

A good friend of mine, Roy Sharp is going to join us here in a little bit and we're going to talk about

the actual tribes of American politics.

So we'll get more into this, but I think right now when you look at the political landscape,

we've been given basically an illusion that you are either on red team or blue team and the American people are more complex than that they're smarter than that and we're sort of presented this binary, this dichotomy that doesn't really work anymore if it ever did.

And I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, and I think it's kind of like if you were, if the whole country, they were like, well, you're either a Catholic or you're Protestant

and you're like well I actually I'm Jewish and they were like no no no okay you're

Protestant on people infallibility but you're Catholic on tradition. No I'm just no I'm a wholly different thing.
