I first met Eric Garcetti when he was trudging through the snows of Iowa in 2007, campaigning

for Barack Obama, for President.

A member of the Los Angeles City Council looking vaguely uncomfortable in a very heavy

parka and boots in the winter weather of the Midwest.

Since then, he's been elected mayor of Los Angeles and reelected mayor of Los Angeles.

And now, is mentioned as a potential candidate for President of the United States.

I went by and visited mayor Garcetti at City Hall in Los Angeles the other day to talk

about his life and career and what might come next.

Plenty of stuff to talk about, but I never really got the full story of your exotic family

history.

Of course, I read up a little bit getting ready for this, but I didn't know the whole story

about your grandfather and that whole side of the family in Mexico and what happened.

So, let's start there.
