You know, we did it.

We did a sort of a special edition of the podcast on Monday in the aftermath of the, I was

going to say the fall of Kabul, the sort of the fall of the whole Afghan government.

But in some ways, after two or three days now, what strikes me is it was not only apparently

pretty close to bloodless, but the old crew just left and the new crew came in.

And so it's almost, you know, it's almost hard to call it a fall exactly, more just like

a nudge.

And like, you know, when someone, I don't know, it's, there's a lot, there's obviously a lot

going on there, both in the literal and figurative senses.

And this is that story is going to move forward in the days and weeks to come.

We're going to mainly talk about other issues today in the podcast because, you know, one

thing I would say is we've had, you know, absolute saturation coverage of the situation

in Afghanistan over the last few days, we may hit on it briefly at a few points.

I think in many ways, you know, the, it's been an example of the way that the DC media

is very plugged in to the culture and organizational infrastructure that has sustained these decades,

decades long involvement in Afghanistan, in Iraq, you know, we're out of Iraq, but not

out of Iraq.

And I think where, where DC is, is very different from the rest of, where the rest of the country

is.

But this is popular in the rest of the country.

But I think we've seen that divergence in a very, in a very acute way.
