Hi, this is Josh Marshall and this is the Josh Marshall podcast.

We have our co-host Kate Briega back. Kate was away last week, so we had an

off week at the podcast. Now we're back and we have a lot to discuss.

You know, for months, I've been saying that we're in this period of the politics of opacity,

particularly up in the Senate, where we just don't all the stuff that's in public is meaningless

and all the stuff that is meaningful is happening out of our eyes and so, you know, is there going

to be infrastructure? Is there not? Is there going to be voting rights? Is there not? Well,

kind of all of a sudden, now we're actually doing stuff and we do know what's happening.

It's happening in a in a in a in a fairly public fashion. We have two, you know, back to that old

thing of these, you know, linked processes with these two different pieces of infrastructure

legislation. You have the bipartisan mini deal, which is kind of, you know, kind of inching its

way forward, kind of everybody trying to figure out. It's kind of it's a bit different than we're

used to in in really in the last dozen plus years, where occasionally we have bills that everybody

agrees on and it just kind of passes through and you're done and then you have bills that

Democrats want to pass and Republicans just prevent them from doing anything and everybody knows

how to do that now. That's very everybody has those muscles exercised and strong, but now you have

this thing where Republicans are kind of letting it happen and kind of sort of some of them
