Welcome to Sarah's Bookshelves Live.

0:11.9

I'm your host, Sarah Dickinson.

0:13.8

Join me every other week as we get real and sometimes a bit snarky about books and reading.

0:19.3

Sometimes I'm joined by one of my co-hosts, Catherine,

0:22.0

from Gilmer Guide to Books, or Susie from Novel Visits. Other times, I talk with a bookish guest,

0:28.4

including authors and publishing insiders who give us a behind-the-scenes peek into different

0:33.4

corners of the book world. But always, we're bringing you great book recommendations in every

0:39.3

single episode. Let's get rolling. Welcome to the summer 24 circle back episode, where we

0:46.4

discuss books we shared in the summer preview now that we've had a chance to read them,

0:50.7

or at least attempted to read them. Catherine from Gilmore Guide is joining me, as always, for these episodes. Welcome, Catherine.

Hi, thank you. How did your summer reading turn out?

1:03.3

I'm going to call it my hummingbird summer, because my reading for much of June and July

1:09.6

was just like those tiny birds. Their wings and my

1:13.7

reading brain were a blur. And in the same way they flit from flower to flower, I went from book

1:21.4

to book to book. I could not settle on a single book. At one point, I was reading four books at the same time without really

1:30.8

reading any of them. Oh, wow. It was like, yeah, okay, this is all right. No, you know what, I don't

1:35.9

care about this and switching to something else. Do you really read multiple books at once?

1:40.8

No, unless they're very, very different. I used to read nonfiction and fiction. That was no

1:46.2

problem. Now in my fiction, because I'm getting more into fantasy, that's very easy to keep separate

1:53.1

from a contemporary, so sometimes I do, but not like that. Okay. But yeah, but having said all that,

1:59.5

I landed on a success rate of 67%, which is fine,

2:05.1

but they were almost all 3.5. Got it. Which is my lowest success rating. Fairly successful.
