Hello and welcome to Business 300.

My name is Philip Kulenshov and this is 300 Seconds About Business.

We're all a busy people, so I have five minutes or less to get my point across.

You know the pattern. Another five. Business people make things happen. At least that's what they're supposed to do. There are indeed those business people who wait for things to happen to them. And most often their business is also in a state of waiting. A stagnating business is a dying business. Lingering is not the way.

We want to be hunters, not gathers. We seek, pursue, and find a way to make it happen. So how can we work like that? How do we find a way to bring results? What does faithful work look like? How can we make

things happen? Three things I have for you. Four to keep it interesting.

Four ways for us to consider how we are to work to bring results and get it done.

The first is competent care.

Work brings results through competent care.

Proverbs 2229 says,

Do you see a man skillful in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand

before obscure men. Results demand our competence. If we are to build anything worth building,

we're going to have to get good at what we do. There's a complacent spirit pervading the culture,

especially among Christians, that stops shy of competence by being satisfied with mere effort.

We've all heard this sort of phrase, as long as you do your best.

But what does that even mean? Do we say that to our employees?

Is it enough for an employee to do his best to come to work on time?

Clearly no. There are standards.

If our best doesn't meet the standard, we don't get to wash our hands of the responsibility.

We must get better than our best.

Customers don't care if we did our best.

If our work doesn't meet their expectation, they simply won't buy from us.
