Today we'll be telling the story of St. Paragrin,

whose feast is celebrated on May 1st.

St. Paragrin was born around the year 1260 in Italy to a wealthy but anti-Papell family.

As a teenager, Paragrin agreed with his family and actually hit a priest that was trying to preach in his town.

The priest, St Philip, turned the other cheek towards Peregrin instead of fighting back.

St. Peregrin was so taken aback by this

gesture that he immediately regretted what he had done and apologized profusely to

St Philip. That moment in his life had a huge impact on Peregrin, and after several years of prayer and good works,

decided that he himself wanted to become a religious. St. Peregrin joined the Servites in Siena and became a priest.

He was also known during his lifetime for his devotion to the poor and sick.

St. Paragrin tried to stand instead of sit as much as possible as a special pendants he could offer up to God.

St. Bergen lived to be 85 years old.

He is the patron saint of people suffering from cancer, AIDS,

and other health problems.
