The updated cost of raising a child from birth to college, not including college tuition.

Right now it's a little under a quarter million dollars for a

middle income family. If you're a high income family it can edge all the way up to

four hundred thousand dollars because those high-income parents tend to spend more all along the way.

But how about the cost of just starting that life, having that baby.

It too is far from cheap.

It's about $11,000 on average with no complications.

But if you have issues with fertility as many, many women do these days,

hormones, they can run into the thousands.

A single round of IVF can be 13 to 14,000 dollars a donor egg can be 25,000 dollars a pop and I am just

getting started since 2015 this week's guest

Leavon Bitter who is co-founder and president of Ava which is the first

wearable fertility tracker has been out to change all this.

Ava measures pulse rate and breathing rate and heart rate variability and temperature,

all parameters that are directly impacted by the reproductive hormones,

Ava can actually predict an average of more than five fertile days per cycle in real time with 90% accuracy and it's

responsible for bringing about 20,000 babies into the world.
