Our topic today is the January 6th Committee.

Have you been following the January 6th committee?

One of the weirder storylines has revolved around how and who will be broadcasting its slate of hearings.

The committee hired the former president of ABC News, William Goldston, to help produce TV segments

from the body cam, surveillance camera, and documentary footage from that day.

It's a strange focus because the conceit of such a select committee in Congress is that

it uncovers new facts that inform a narrative.

In this case, most of us know the basics.

And yet, the narrative, and in particular who accepts the narrative. In this case, most of us know the basics, and yet the narrative, and in

particular, who accepts the narrative, has become a focus of our current partisan debate. So the

committee took the unprecedented step of airing its first hearing last week in prime time and getting

all the major networks to air it without

commercials. Well, all the major networks except for one. Fox News. Last night, more than 19 million

people watched the January 6th committee's first public hearing. All of the major news networks

aired it except for one. Of course, the odd one out, as you can see there in the center, is Fox News.

Earlier this week, the network announced they would not be carrying the hearing live,

and frankly, the reason is obvious.
