Hey everyone, Lauslle Montgomery here again. Quick on the heels of Joseph Needham, Part 1.

Today, in this 156th CHP episode,

we look at Part 2.

In Part 1, you may recall, we went all the way up to

1943 after Needham finished the first of several expeditions

around the Middle Kingdom to explore China science

and the history behind all these inventions and technologies.

And also was head of the Sino-British Scientific Cooperation Office, the Jiang Chia Dachia,

Ujungkow Dachia, he went from. that whatever help and support he could.

On behalf of the British government, that is.

The first trip was the most perilous and ambitious,

but he and his compadres on that adventure,

H.T. Huang and the great New Zealander, Ruy Alley, navigated all the setbacks and the mission yielded some good fines.

And Needham got to have his moment in Cave 17 of the Mokal Grottos and got to see the paintings,

carvings, and manuscripts in all their glory.

It was a very inspirational moment and after taking it all in he then went on to cover as much of the rest of China as he could.
