Summary

Having raked over the council elections in the last episode, Jemma and Marina spend this one dissecting the Mayoral results. It's a win for Andy Burnham, a loss for Andy Street, a win for Ben Houchen and, most thrillingly of all, a loss for Susan Hall. Susan, who spent her time campaigning telling Londoners that where they live is a hellscape of unparalleled proportions. Funnily enough, that strategy didn't work. In this Trawl, enjoy her entirely graceless speech and Khan's humorous one which references the biggest winner of all, Count Binface. The man who wanted to reduce the price of croissants and bring back Ceefax did very well and completely trounced the Britain First candidate who also suffered a huge bout of sour grapes. Fortunately, there was someone in the crowd to put him right.

I'm Gemma Forte.

And I'm Marina Perkis, and if you're anything like us, and again, I apologise for my very hoarse voice,

0:23.5

probably because I was celebrating all those local election wins.

0:26.2

Yay!

0:28.4

We are still letting the results of the elections soak in,

0:33.0

which bodes well, because we're covering the election fallout across two pods this week, because there's just so much great content and there was so much discussion needed to try and pack it all into an episode, right, Gemma?

0:45.9

Yeah, absolutely. Agreed. And, you know, it's not often as well that we get to celebrate. So it does feel nice to dwell on any good political news

0:56.1

we can get our tiny little hands on and to make sure as well that the trawl gold that we've found

1:01.9

or that Marina's actually found this week. I've been a beefer living it up. Get some air time.

So take, for example, this cliff of Mel Stride, the Tory and Secretary of State for

1:12.7

work and pensions, and he's getting his words a little bit muddled on the BBC politics show.

1:19.4

Get across the things that we are doing. We'll have a manifesto in due course, of course,

1:24.5

for the general election election.

1:27.0

Oh, hi. general erection election. Oh.

1:29.6

General what?

1:32.0

It's the erection section.

1:34.6

Not the election section.

1:36.8

That would suggest, Mel, that your results are going up and they're not.

1:41.5

They're going down.
