Summary
You're feeling an urge to binge and you don't want to binge but you do. You want to make that urge go away but you also want to ride it out and let it pass. You're at the store and you want to buy something that looks good but you also don't. You want to but you don't. You have competing wants and competing desires.
This happens a lot when you're trying to not binge eat. It can be really confusing because you don't know what you want. You're hearing two different things in your mind. So today's episode I'm going to help you make this a lot more clear for yourself. I'm going to help you figure out what you really want and how to get it. | 1:21.9 | does really whenever they're in a moment of indecision. What it means is that you want two things and they're each competing |
| 1:29.9 | for you to choose them. And most likely they're opposite things. One is yes and the other is no. |
| 1:35.1 | And there's so many ways this can show up in binge eating. So I'll give you a few examples. |
| 1:41.0 | The most obvious is whether or not you'll binge. You're feeling an urge to binge and you have |
| 1:46.3 | the desire to binge, but you also have a desire to not binge. Part of you wants to just give in and |
| 1:51.5 | eat the food and part of you doesn't. And you might have competing desires about buying food. |
| 1:57.8 | You're in the store and you see something that looks good and you have a desire to buy it |
| 2:01.7 | and a desire not to. And you might have competing desires about applying things that you've learned |
