human Andrew Heaton. I've had two experiences in my life in which I had to seriously think about robots.

In 2008, I lived in California for about half a year.

I was trying to get into radio.

But I paid the bills at the time working as a background extra on TV shows,

and I lived in a tool shed behind my best friend's house.

A lot of those shoots had very early start times.

So one morning I left the shed around 6 a.m. and I walked to my car and I saw this guy rooting around the dumpster outside of our house and when we locked eyes he said good morning

Like a robot and I, if I were Google, and I wanted to test

And I wanted to test Androids out for Kinks, I would make them look like hobos.

So if they started malfunctioning, people would just shrug it off and not think about it.

Good plan, right? Now within a year of that, I had left that tool shed and I'd gone to DC to work for the United

States Congress. My job at the time mostly consisted of getting

yelled at by old people, many of whom thought I was a robot. So I'd pick up the phone and go,

hello, you've reached Congressman Dan Borne's office, how may I help you?

And then some other guy and the other line would go, damn it, he's got a robot answering the phone.

I hate robot answering systems.

Whoa, hold on.

I'm not a robot, I'm a man. I've got a cup of coffee. I touched a girl one time.

By any metric, I'm just a regular human.

Well, tell me this slick. If you was a robot who was programmed to think you was a man, how would you know?
