| 0:00.0 | My guest today is Joseph Pine. This is a return visit for him. He's the author of a book that I really |
| 0:06.8 | enjoy from the late 90s called The Experience Economy, a must read. He has a new workout, a new book |
| 0:14.2 | called The Transformation Economy, Guiding Customers to Achieve Their Aspirations, right in my wheelhouse. Instantly new, I wanted to talk. guiding customers to achieve their aspirations. |
| 0:22.4 | Right in my wheelhouse. |
| 0:28.0 | Instantly knew I wanted to talk to Joseph, instantly knew I would like this conversation. |
| 0:30.8 | And I hope you enjoy it as well. I know. We first spoke in 2019. |
| 0:48.2 | My podcast had been on for a while, but your first book, The Experience Economy, had stuck with me. |
| 0:53.4 | It was a 90s book? Yeah, it was actually |
| 0:55.2 | it came out in 99 and then we updated 2011 and again in 2020 or late 2019. I don't know if we |
| 1:02.5 | talked before or after that. We spoke in 2019, I believe, I looked it up. But I think the thing |
| 1:08.1 | about that book and it just stuck with me, and it was something where |
| 1:13.2 | it was like this great idea, this great thought, this great truism. I guess, yes, businesses were |
| 1:20.2 | doing it, but it wasn't something that was talked about, unless you were talking about it. I always |
| 1:24.5 | thought to myself, gosh, that's where I want to be as a business owner |
| 1:28.3 | working with clients. I want to be there because that's what people want. And I'm going to |
| 1:33.6 | give you this a little bit of a setup here. And so when I saw you had this new book. And again, |
| 1:39.7 | I like to just have conversations. It's not necessarily a book promotion or anything. But when I saw |
| 1:44.9 | this new book that you had, I was like, oh, wow, it's so self-evident. That's one of my |
| 1:51.5 | favorite comments, by the way. And some of my setup here also is that I've done hundreds of |
| 1:56.9 | interviews. And up until COVID, I found that authors, particularly business authors, were often |
| 2:05.3 | coming up with a novel perspective or something interesting. We got inside COVID and almost every |
| 2:13.1 | book title went to, I wrote a book on leadership. Here's how you lead. I wrote a book on teamwork. |
