Think about how difficult it is to be a man, please.

I mean, the heart of man is wicked and sick.

And if you live your entire life trying to earn

the approval of others, whether it's an elder, a parent,

your neighbors, your peers, your coworkers, whatever it is,

the problem is that people's expectations are always changing.

They're fleeting.

They will demand more and more and more of you

and give back less and less and less.

In other words, to try to earn the approval of others,

to spend your life doing that is to try

to hit a moving target.

It's a never-ending battle that will leave you wasted

away, exhausted, and empty.

On the other hand, is the promise of the gospel, which

is that the Lord, all the satisfaction that is needed,

has been paid for on the cross.

And when you come before the Lord, you come before a God

who is pleased with you, who knows you,

and loves you, and accepts you.
