Hi, this is Josh Marshall, and this is the Josh Marshall podcast.

We have a lot to discuss today and we have a special guest who is joining us who we will

speak to and introduce in a moment. As everybody knows we had the shocking news

just a couple days ago of the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and

that is a whole big story very sad story entirely on its own, given the history and the future of

the court and Ginsburg's role in recent decades of American legal history on many different fronts.

Obviously it kind of gets subsumed into the drama of the national election coming up in about 45 days

and also the kind of the broader crisis of democracy that we are currently living through.

And it gets, you know, kind of jammed right into everything that is at stake right now and there's a funny sort of thing and I

I think probably many people have felt this it feels sort of it feels sort of bad it feels sort of you know short changing her historical

legacy to condense it down to what's Trump going to try to get away

with and all this kind of stuff, this immediacy of this national moment, I take some grace from the fact that she clearly

ended her life very intentionally

wanting the conversation to be about the future of that seat and the future of the Supreme Court.

She was, she clearly made an effort even facing the end of her life to put out this statement where she said I want the next
