Summary

How can you view eating and food as a gift rather than a burden? What are some healthy behaviors that you can adopt outside of diet culture? Today's episode concludes a week-long exploration of dismantling diet culture and shifting the focus from weight loss to health.  All good things come to an end, but Leslie and I close out the series by giving you practical tips for health and wellbeing. We will be emphasizing the importance of: Fueling your body Reframing eating and food as a gift from God Putting health into a positive perspective Seeking help if you are struggling with disordered eating Our hope is that you walk away from this series feeling loved, valued, and grateful for the wonderful body that you live in. You don’t need to conform to certain body standards imposed by others. But hear me when I say that if you are in a place where you are stuck or struggling, please, please, please seek help. You don’t have to walk through this alone. Self-care is important and professional help is available. Love and embrace your body and yourself just the way you are! Thank you for joining us for this entire week of The Weighting Game series. And remember, you don’t have to allow diet culture and societal pressures to dictate how you view your body.  Share your food freedom journey with us by tagging me @biancaolthoff and @leslieschilling.  Love you friends, B RESOURCES/LINKS Guest Leslie Schilling: https://www.leslieschilling.com/  Book: Feed Yourself: Step Away from the Lies of Diet Culture and into Your Divine Design  IG: https://www.instagram.com/leslieschilling/ FB: https://www.facebook.com/NutritionLeslie  Quote If you've been driving around for a decade with your gas light on, I invite you to eat breakfast. The first thing we have to do is put gas in the car. If you've been driving around for a decade with your gas light on, I invite you to eat breakfast.

Well, family, we have gone an entire week together. And if you have been with us on day one, two, three, four, and now five. Congratulations. This whole season has been

0:22.2

dedicated to new beginnings and part and parcel of this is having a new mindset on how we deal

0:27.9

with weight loss, health, diet culture, diet fads, and the forsaken New Year's resolutions

0:34.9

that by at this point of the podcast, many people have already broken.

0:38.6

So we aren't going to change our minds or our feelings or our eating behaviors in a week.

But what I want to do is put health over weight loss.

If you've been with us on this journey, we've been honored and privileged to have Leslie Schilling on this entire week as we dismantle diet culture. And I understand that you might not have

0:57.5

all the answers. I understand that maybe you even read Leslie's book and still not have all the

1:02.0

answers. I don't think either of us is advocating answers more than peeking curiosity and inviting

1:07.3

you into the lifestyle of understanding who you are, what is health, and celebrating

1:13.0

the gift that God has given us through nourishing our body. So in a diet-obsessed culture,

1:19.6

I don't want us to feel like this is going to be something easy. But in this final episode,

1:23.8

this is what I have enlisted as the, how now shall we live? Now that we know this, how do we apply it to our

1:30.8

life? So, Leslie, our entire lives have been told that smaller is more valuable. As we have taken a

1:38.5

look at the content this week, what I want to kind of pick your brain is, what would you tell the

1:44.0

listener who has gone

1:45.7

through this journey and is excited about the freedom that they found or maybe still wrestling

1:50.1

with that? I'm not sure I can believe you. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I would answer that very similarly

1:57.2

to all the calls that I'm going to get in my dietitian office in January, right?

2:01.9

Like, hey, I want to lose weight to get healthy.
