Well, hey, friend, and welcome back to the messy table, an ordinary space for us to slow down and

remember that God is actually at work in our mess. And that is the overarching theme and the

underlying story of us, of the worlds, of God's people. Because even despite us and our mistakes

and our sin in this imperfect world, Jesus has already made

a way. So no matter where you're coming from, no matter your backstory, we are genuinely glad

you're here. And if you and I haven't yet had the chance to meet, my name is Jen Jewel, and I consider

an honor to host this faith-fueled conversation-style podcast, which unleashes a

fresh perspective into your world and your speakers every other Tuesday. And today, I have an

amazing co-host back with me, my sweet friend, Amy Groschelle, and just like when you meet a good

friend for coffee, or you make a big dinner and have people to your house. Here at the messy table, we intentionally try to get beyond the small talk and dive deeper

into the stuff that really matters, the real actual stories that make up our lives and that God

who loves to meet us right where we are. So you know how it goes. Often in life you're just doing the next thing.

You're making dinner. You're going to work. You're raising your kids. You're doing laundry.

You're making plans and living out those plans. And you might have dreams and desires and expectations.

Maybe you've pictured how the season should look and exactly how it should play out.

Maybe you've imagined it, you've

envisioned it, you have a Pinterest board, but as you well know, not everything goes

according to plan. And even when we think we are in control, we're really not. But when

life takes a sharp turn, God is not surprised. He isn't shocked. He's ready to help.

He's already putting people in your path. He's always present. He's right there with you.

And you know what? There's still beauty to be experienced every step of the way.

Proverbs 169 reminds us of something important. We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.
