0:31.6	Today we'll be telling the story of St. Nicholas of Tolentino, whose feast is celebrated on
0:35.8	September 10.
0:37.8	Nicholas was born in 1245 in Potano, Italy.
0:41.9	His parents prayed at the shrine of St. Nicholas of Myra to have a child, and when their prayers
0:46.0	were answered, they named their son after the saint to whom they prayed.
0:50.7	Nicholas was raised in a devout home, and at the age of 18 he became a friar, and at 25
0:55.9	he was ordained to priest.
0:58.0	In 29 he was sent to Tolentino, Italy, where he gained a reputation as a wonder worker,
1:02.9	preacher, confessor, and healer.
1:05.9	Nicholas had a special devotion to the poor souls in purgatory, and because of this he was
1:10.5	declared the patron saint of the poor souls in purgatory by Pope Leo XIII in 1884.
1:17.5	St. Nicholas is also the patron saint of animals, babies, boatmen, dying people and sailors.
