So there's a couple of principles you want to pay attention to, never add to the text.

If you want to say something wrong, I'd add to the text.

You want to say something wrong, got to take away from the text.

Calvinists are real bad about this in Ephesians chapter 1, verse 4.

They always leave out the phrase in Christ, or they will add the idea of have chosen us

to be in him.

They will add the words to be or they will take out in Christ because as it stands,

there's a contradiction in the text if you're a Calvinist.

My Calvinist professor at the University of Mobile, our observation homework was to take the shortest

verse in the English Bible.

John 1135, the shortest verse in the English Bible, said,

I want you to go home and write 50 observation questions for John 1135. Two words, Jesus wept,

50 observation questions. And we wind up meeting at like the Starbucks, the Barnes & Noble

Starbucks, and trying to hash this out as a group.

And we're like, we got it.

That was on a Tuesday.

The next class is on a Thursday.

So then we go back on Thursday, we're like, I got my 50 questions.

I'm good.

The next homework assignment was to write 50 more and different questions about the same verse.

The point is that there is no limit to how many things you can decide to observe from any particular passage.

So the observation is the most important thing.
