I think that we talk about alcohol and drugs, which I have not had a personal problem with,

as this addiction, right? And people don't necessarily talk about emotions in that same sense,

but they are. I was addicted to my depression. You know, my depression allowed me to drop out of

college and not take responsibility and not figure out my adult world and what I have to do.

My addiction allowed me to call out of being a gelato scooper and a hostess and

interning for C-magazine and trying to go to college. My depression and bipolar disorder at the

snap of my fingers, my entire family, friends, husband would drop what they were doing to come to my

rescue. I was unconscious of that power and that addiction while it was happening, but the same

way that people are addicted to negative thought patterns or the core beliefs that they tell themselves.
