Today we'll be telling the story of St. Desiderias of Langre, whose feast is celebrated on May 23.

There really isn't a lot of information about the life of St. Desiderias.

We know that he was born around the year 307 in Genoa, Italy.

According to the story we were telling today, Desiderias was a simple day labor before

becoming the Bishop of Langre France.

In 343, he supported the Acts of the Council of Sardica.

In 356, during an invasion of Vandals, he was martyred while trying to protect his congregation.

St. Desiderias is the patron saint of Asago, Italy.

Now it's time for a story.

The mood in the small church of St. John the Evangelist was solemn.

The Bishop of Langre had just passed away, and the community had gathered to select a

successor.

The people spoke in hushed tones, preparing to pray together, and they hoped God would
