Hey, everybody, Tom Woods here.

What a fascinating guest we have today.

It's Rachel Fulton Brown.

And she is Associate Professor of Medieval History at the University of Chicago,

where she specializes in the history of Christianity, medieval European intellectual,

cultural and religious history, medieval liturgy, the cult of the Virgin Mary, and scriptural exegesis and hermeneutics. She is my new favorite person in the world

in that I find her endlessly fascinating. She's extremely knowledgeable about a great many things,

has interesting things to say about a wide variety of subjects, keeps me entertained no matter what the

subject is, just fantastic. And she's gotten herself into some trouble recently,

and I want to talk about that in academia, because I'm always interested in professors who are put upon by crazy people.

She does have a recent book, and we are going to talk about it a little bit, and that is Mary and the Art of Prayer,

the Hours of the Virgin in medieval Christian Life and thought from Columbia University Press published just last year.

She and I both got our PhDs at Columbia, as a matter of fact.

Now, this book is on a subject that's not the typical subject for the Tom Wood Show.
