Summary

‘There is no single factor so potent in promoting the good of beings as right view’ - Buddha Joseph describes the wisdom factor of mind that is Right View and the function this understanding serves in illuminating both the causes, and the means for cessation, of suffering. Our actions are often rooted in the unwholesome thoughts that stem from a false view of the Self. Acting in a manner that serves and enhances the right view of non-self is the underlying context for all of our practice. It is the beginning and the end of the path, to understand the truth of Dukkha and abandon all of its causes. journey is, if we're heading in the right direction and we keep going, we'll inevitably reach

1:29.1

the destination. If our direction is correct and we keep on going, we will inevitably reach the goal.

1:41.4

But if we don't have the right direction, even with the strongest aspirations and the

strongest efforts, we could be wandering a long time and not fulfill those aspirations.

So the Buddha was very clear about this in many ways.

He said that just as the dawn is the forerunner and the precursor to the rising sun.

2:16.6

So is right view the dawn.

2:22.2

So is right view the forerunner and precursor of the breakthrough to the four noble truths,

2:27.0

those truths that liberate the mind. So just as the dawn is the forerunner and precursor of the

2:38.8

rising sun, right view is the precursor and the forerunner to our understanding of those truths which actually

2:49.4

liberate us. The right view can be understood from two different aspects.

2:57.0

First, it is described as a particular function of the mind.

3:05.0

And that is very particularly the mental factor of wisdom.

3:11.0

So in one way we could say right view is the wisdom factor of mind and the function of wisdom the way wisdom manifests in our minds is to illuminate what's arising so we can understand and
