On Friday the 13th of May, 25 racers gathered at the Oark General Store early on a foggy morning to take on the first ever DOOM race. By the end there would be only 10 finishers and Jacob Loos would take 2nd place overall and set a new Single Speed FKT (fastest known time) with a time of 2d 11h 18m.

And before we get to today's episode, I'd like to address something that is sad and tragic.

And it hit very close to home.

Many of y'all will be aware that on May 11th, Mariah Wilson,

also known as Mo, was murdered in her home. And another member of the cycling community,

Caitlin Armstrong, has been charged with her murder and is currently suspected to be on the run.

This story is filled with nothing but sadness and tragedy. I think for many of us, it has hit very

close to home. Members of our community were very involved in the Austin cycling scene,

which is only about an hour and a half from me. And yeah, I don't have words to express the

sadness that I feel for the loss of life. I've also felt a lot of sadness about how we as a community have also dealt with this tragedy.

I'm sure like many of you, you feel helpless, a little bit lost, and sad.

Which is why whenever I saw that my friend Cynthia Pedraza, along with some other Austinites,

have rallied together to host a memorial ride to honor the life of Mariah Wilson.

So that memorial ride is going to take place this Sunday, May 29th.

It's going to start at Republic Square in Austin, starting at 530,

followed by a ride out to Deep Eddy Pool. A couple notes on the event. It says, please join the
