0:31.9	Today we'll be telling the story of St. John the Dwarf, whose feast is celebrated on October
0:36.9	17th.
0:37.9	John was born around the year 339 in Thebes, Egypt.
0:41.9	His parents were poor, but gave him the wealth of being raised as a Christian.
0:45.9	When he was 18 years old, he moved to the desert of seats with his older brother.
0:50.9	He wanted to become a religious and studied under St. Pambo.
0:55.9	Later in his life, he continued the tradition by teaching several other monks their way of life.
1:01.9	John was eventually ordained a priest by Pope Theophilus and founded a monastery of which he was the abbot.
1:08.9	In 395, seats was invaded and St. John had to flee.
1:13.9	He lived the rest of his life on Mount Coleson.
1:16.9	He was known as St. John the Dwarf because he wasn't very tall.
1:21.9	And legend says that he only ate one meal a day of flatbread and vegetables.
1:26.9	He is one of the Egyptian desert fathers of the church.
