Super Pumped, the Battle for Uber.

Super Pumped chronicles the rise and fall of former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick and draws from

Mike's reporting, which played a significant role in Kalanick's outster by investors.

We wanted to talk with Mike because while the book focuses on Uber, it really speaks

to deeper questions where we focus on at the Realignment, such as how state, local and federal

governments handle destructive technological change.

The outsized role, big personalities play in our politics, business and government,

and whether or not capitalism and technology deliver on their promises.

Thanks for having me.

So obviously this book is about the rise and fall of Travis Kalanick and the story of

Uber, especially from 2008 to 2017.

But the reason why we think it's so interesting we want to talk about it is it's really a

broader story of capitalism.

It's a story about the way that these companies are financed, the way that narratives about

what founders are and what the sort of roles these people play together.

And that's also about the way that we actually exist in our urban societies.

So it's actually a great opportunity to talk with some of the deeper things we want
