The Senate Judiciary Committee has been holding hearings this week on the Supreme Court

nomination of Katanji Brown-Jackson. The hearings are a much beloved American ritual

in which Republican senators sound angry about something while the court nominee lies

like a dog with the New York Times. Then the senators go on Fox News and talk about

how angry they are before returning to the Senate to confirm the candidate who proceeds

to destroy our freedoms by gutting the Constitution of every trace of meaning whereupon the senators

go back on Fox News to say how angry they are about it.

The hearings began with a stern warning to Republicans from Democrat Committee Chairman

Dick Durbin who said, quote, I don't want to hear anyone say that Judge Jackson was chosen

because she's a black woman, just because she was chosen because she's a black woman,

because that would be racist because she's a black woman, which is why she was chosen.

Unquote. Senator Durbin went on to ban any questions that Democrats could interpret

as racist, such as what is your judicial philosophy? Why should you be appointed to the nation's

highest court when you have no relevant experience and how come your candidacy was supported

by dark money from the most radical anti-Americans on the planet?
