Welcome to Talking Scripture, I'm Mike.

And I'm Bryce.

And today we are going to be in section 58 and 59 of the doctrine covenants.

Section 58 is right after the dedication of the land.

The land of Missouri specifically Jackson County was designated as the center place.

And so the Lord is going to give further instruction concerning this land.

Look in verse 1.

Harkin O ye elders of my church and give ear to my word and learn of me what I will

concerning you and also concerning this land unto which I have sent you.

And then the Lord talks about tribulation in verse 2 and 3.

He even says you cannot behold with your natural eyes for the present time the design of your

God concerning those things which shall come here after and the glory which shall follow

after much tribulation.

And historically this is what happens, isn't it Bryce?

That tribulation does come not only to their lives but collectively to all of us since

then because the Lord at the end of this story is going to say my people aren't prepared

to build Zion and they won't be until they suffer and learn obedience.
