We continue to roll here in Las Vegas. We had a busy first day. Hope you enjoyed the podcast with Illinois coach, Brett Beelma, and the Illinois players. Luke Altmire, J.C. Davis, Xavier Scott. Definitely encourage you to go back. Hear from them. Getting to the nitty-gritty about this season. Gets to know these players a little bit more. Had a lot of fun doing that. But those are the only people we talked to on Tuesday, the first day of Big Ten Media Days. With Illinois is one of the star attractions. Wrote a column about that up at alinainquire.com. Check that out. Joey wrote about Xavier Scott and his story, going from overlooked recruit to one of the best players in the country, especially at his position,

defensive back. But yesterday we were able to catch up with a couple other big hitters. Illinois

Athletics Director Josh Whitman sat down with us and talked about this Illinois football program,

talked about this season ahead for Illinois. We also get a little bit into the discussion of

the College Sports Commission,

the House Settlement, how he feels about that. I don't think he's quite as optimistic as he was

a month ago as we see how teams are going to approach this and whether true NIL is happening

or are we still going to get the collectives involved in all of this?

A lot of things we're learning about the new era of college athletics and Josh Whitman dives

into that a little bit. But we're going to start it off with our conversation with Gary Daniels, CBS Sports

Broadcasting, Icon, and we talk about what it felt like for him to be on the broadcast for that

Illinois and Michigan game last year, a hundred year anniversary of the Red Grange performance,

the dedication of Memorial Stadium and what a day that was for Illinois football, what a day it was

for the CBS broadcast as well. So I dive into that with Gary. It's a phenomenal insight on that. Also talk to him about Illinois and what he thinks about this team and Brett Bielandum's program. What he thinks Illinois can be in the Big Ten moving forward. And of course, he's a former Purdue quarterback. Talk to him about Luke Altmire and what he feels about him and where he stacks up with the rest of the quarterbacks in the country. And also talk to him. I mean, he's done so many SEC games over the years with CBS and now covering the Big Ten with back-to-back titles. How he thinks the Big Ten now stacks up with the SEC.
