We love talking a lot of football.

Obviously, we've talked big picture what this season means, the expectations, how they deal

with it.

But we really went nitty-gritty

on the football team and his roster. And then later on Tuesday, we're able to talk with some

really important members of his roster. We chatted with Illinois quarterback, Luke Altmyer,

consider one of the best quarterbacks in the Big Ten, him, Drew Aller, Penn State, the most

proven guys in this league.

We talked to Luke, obviously, about an eventful offseason where he spurned some SEC suitors,

spurned the NFL for one more season.

We talked about why he came back, why he felt so comfortable in coming back to Illinois,

and why he felt comfortable with his surrounding parts,

including offensive coordinator Barry Lonnie Jr., third year surrounding parts, including offensive coordinator,

Barry Loney Jr., third year with him.

Quarterbacks coach, Art Sikowsy, co-quarterbacks coach, but he plays a big role in that

quarterback's room, wide receivers, the offensive line, Brett B. Omo, all of it.

We also talk to Luke about his supporting cast, about his wide receivers, how important this

training camp is for him to earn some trust and to find, as he said, some alphas in that room because he just lost two alphas with Pat Bryan and Sakari Franklin both moving on to the NFL. So it was a good conversation with him. And then we talked to a lot of I defensive back, Xavier Scott, returning first team all-Big 10 player,

a guy who could have gone to the NFL, but he decided to come back for another year.
