| 1:47.1 | Now, I teach a lot about building confidence and about how it's our job to love ourselves, to appreciate ourselves, to like and approve of ourselves |

| 2:04.1 | So many people when I first introduced this topic have some resistance to it because it sounds like I'm telling people they should be selfish and be thinking about themselves more. |
| 2:15.1 | And I'm not talking about thinking about yourself more. I'm talking about thinking about yourself differently. |
| 2:23.1 | If you think about yourself and you have a lot of negative thoughts, which many people do, then I want you to think about yourself in a positive, compassionate, appreciative way. |
| 2:36.1 | And I promise you that when your thoughts are positive and uplifting about yourself, you think about yourself much less. |
| 2:46.1 | Because part of the reason we think about ourselves so much is because we are trying to protect ourselves in some way from some kind of harm or danger, which doesn't actually exist. |
| 2:57.1 | We are trying to make sure that we're okay. Our spirits want validation, that we are lovable and worthy of connection and good and important. |
| 3:07.1 | And so it's constantly seeking that, which causes us to think about and focus on ourselves. |
