Summary

On this episode I sit down with Lael Wilcox in Bentonville, AR.  Lael is one of the most accomplished ultra endurance bikepackers on the planet today.  Her accomplishments are beyond impressive as is her humble and down to earth personality.  She is currently riding her bike to Emporia, KS for the start of the DKXL.  You can keep up with her @laelwilcox on instagram.

Hello and happy Memorial Day, everybody.

0:03.0

This is the Bikes for Death podcast.

0:04.9

My name is Patrick, and I'm your host. This is the podcast that talks about bikepacking, adventuring, and the cool people who participate. Got a special guest for y'all today. Lael Wilcox is on the show. She and I just happened to be in Northwest Arkansas at the exact same time. I was up there on a family vacation and she was there for work and I saw on Instagram that she was in the area. I sent her a

0:26.3

message on Instagram and she was gracious enough to say yes and in short order we were sitting

0:32.2

down at a table and having an interview. I'm still kind of in shock that it happened. Whenever I started the podcast,

0:41.2

my ultimate, you know, dream or goal was to one day be able to interview her. And so being able to

0:49.8

interview her at episode 10 is crazy. It's awesome. You know, the truth is I probably would have

0:57.0

been happy to interview her at podcast number 100 whenever I'd gotten better at interviewing

1:03.9

and all that. But, you know, it doesn't matter. Like I had the opportunity and I took it and it was great.

1:11.4

And so like whenever is editing this episode, I thought about like editing down and making it super polished.

1:17.8

But the truth of it is is that I'm still learning how to be a podcaster and I'm trying to get better.

1:23.0

And I don't I don't mind, I guess, kind of taking you all along the journey and kind of seeing some of the stupid things that I say or whatever, you know.

1:32.3

So I kind of left the audio raw and that's kind of my style in general, but I am actively working at getting better.

1:39.3

Yeah, I appreciate all the comments and the critiques that I get.

1:43.3

You can always reach out to me

1:45.8

either on Instagram or just send me an email, Bikes at Bikesordeth.com. And I love to hear from y'all.

1:52.6

And any suggestions you have on ways I can prove the show, I'm all ears. I want to get better.

1:59.8

So for this episode, like I said, I left it kind of raw. I wanted to,

2:04.1

I think part of it just like showed her personality and how like down to earth she was. And so like

2:09.5

the podcast actually starts. We were just talking as I was getting the equipment set up and I hit

2:16.2

record and that's that's the

2:18.7

moment that this interview will start and so we're kind of halfway through a conversation but
