Each day on the average there are two drive-by shootings and that is only part of the violence which is the war with its low street price and availability crack raises the potential of a new

population of addicts. It's dirt cheap, easy to get, and deadly. And for the police it's an all-out war.

A task force of 360 officers hit the streets,

rounding up young men believed to be members of street gangs.
