a great day when Iran has given an updated proposal for a deal to end the war.

But the White House thinks it is not a meaningful improvement and is insufficient for a deal.

That says a senior U.S. official and a source briefed on the issue. That's what they tell axios.

A U.S. officials say President Trump wants a deal to end the war, but he is considering resuming the war due to Iran's rejection of many of his demands and a refusal to make a meaningful concessions on its nuclear program.

The nuclear program could be suspended by as much as 20 years.

That's what the United States is trying to push through, but the Iranians so far have only granted five years,

and also there's a question of trust for even that five years.

Trump is expected to convene his top national security team in the Situation Room tomorrow to discuss military options, two U.S. officials say.

The senior U.S. officials said that if Iran won't shift its position, the U.S.

will have to continue the negotiations through bombs.

That phrase continuing negotiations through bombs?

I'm not sure that's such an encouraging phrase and approach.

Trump told Axios in a phone call on Sunday before the U.S. had received Iran's latest offer that, quote,

the clock is ticking.

Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.

And if Iran doesn't show flexibility, they are going to get hit much harder.

Hitting Iran much harder is a very real alternative.
