Yes, it is a significant election.

It may not be the most consequential election

in all of American history.

It may not be the closest election

in all of American history,

despite the fact that the polls remain intensely close.

There is a statement in the press that this could be the closest presidential

election in over a century. There is no chance of that. And that is because we had an election

in 2000 that in terms of the electoral vote, George W. Bush won that election with 271 election

votes. One vote to spare. I mean, one electoral vote. And the popular vote in the election of

2000 was also incredibly close, and it was a popular vote that was won by Al Gore.

But it was won by Al Gore against all kinds of third and fourth and fifth party candidates like Ralph Nader who ran and Pat Buchanan who ran.
