And another great day, another great week, in fact, in this greatest nation on God's Green green earth what a great week it is if you follow politics and you care

about it at all and I hope you do this is the week of the first of the

presidential debates that may in fact determine who the next occupant of the

Oval office will be.

There are two people who have held the job before running against one another.

This is a very rare situation, very rare indeed.

In fact, you have to go back to 1888 to find a situation like this, actually 1892,

because that was when Benjamin Harrison was running as an incumbent president, and Grover Cleveland was running to come back and bring it back.

It's a long time ago. Meanwhile, the predictions of what

is going to happen in the debate are all over the lot. There's a piece in the Wall Street

Journal this morning. It says the 2020 Trump-B Biden debates offer a 2024 preview and what

they're talking about is looking at that that first round of debates between

these two gentlemen they'll have two this year two that are scheduled

already one for Thursday night, this coming Thursday, and the other coming up in September.

But what that means, and in a lot of people who pointed this out, is that this first debate is all important, because whatever the impression that is left on the

American people about Joe Biden's being up to the job about Donald Trump being up to the

job or being possessed by some kind of weird fixation on sharks and showers and other things that he

has spoken about totally and coherently over the weekend. But we will get to that. We're going to be

speaking about what's going on in the campaign with distinguished observers like Matthew Contonetti

and A.B. Stoddard of the bulwark and Pamela Paul of the New York Times about why she doesn't have a lot of affection for or faith in big mass demonstrations like the encampments that have been
