Summary

Justin Cronin got his start publishing quiet but moving "literary" fiction. In 2010, he blew up North America (in a manner of speaking) with his post-apocalyptic don't-call-them-vampires "genre" novel The Passage.

We can't hope to cover every plot point or character in Cronin's 766-page genre epic, but we try to at least touch on a few reasons for its mainstream appeal: rich characters, an unrelenting plot, and lots of sweet jargon.

a graffiti means. I think the first one stinks. You're calling it a graffiti.

1:13.5

It was just those big loopy squigglys. Sometimes they have the year after them.

Have you, have we talked about this that, I don't know who I was saying this to, I never can read

graffiti. Like, I don't know if that's the point or if it is the point, right? Like, it's like

1:32.6

the hobo code, like the people who know how to read it can read it, but it's not, it's not for us.

Because we're not graffiti. No, we're not graffiti. I can get into Banksy. Like he's a graffiti

guy. So I can get behind. Well, because he's like doing a mural, right? I like, I like that plan

1:52.4

graffiti is just called a mural. I saw people doing a plan graffiti the other day. It was a bunch

of squares. It was like a checkerboard pattern on the side. I thought you were going to say it was

2:08.4

a bunch of squares doing graffiti there. Just, well, clearly, because it was a plan graffiti,

2:14.5

only squares do play in graffiti. So yeah, like they, I don't know, there's, I feel like once you

2:23.7

get one graffiti, it is sort of a sign to other graffiti that your wall is okay to bring graffiti

on. So we got one a few weeks ago and then we got another really big one right by our door.

2:39.2

Oh, like on Friday, Thursday or Friday. And they're just, they're just like multiplanks. I

went to the home depot and I, and I took a little bit of wall. I don't know. Do you cut off a
