Episode number 34, Lonnie DePree, Arctic Expeditions. Hello and welcome to the adventure sports podcast.

We have a really amazing show for you today.

Our guest is Lonnie Dupree.

Lonnie Dupree has been staging Arctic expeditions for the last 25 years. Bear with me here. I'm going to give you a summary of some of his expeditions. In 1985,

Lonnie DePree and his friend, John Peterson, were dropped off by airplane 50 miles from nowhere,

and they lived off the land all winter long in Alaska.

This started Lonnie on his Arctic expeditions.

In 89, Lonnie DePree with Paul Shirky led a team of Russians and Americans that skied 1,000 miles along the Siberian and Alaskan coast to promote peace between the United States and the USSR.

In 91 and 92, Lonnie DePrie and Malcolm Vance traveled 3,000 miles by dog sled from Prudeau Bay, Alaska to Churchill, Manitoba along the Arctic Ocean.

And this was the first west-east crossing

of Canada's famed Northwest Passage in wintertime. In 94, as a part of the Winter Olympics,

Lonnie Dupree, with an international team, dog sledded the 1,000-mile leg from Lilleyhammer, Norway,

to Hermansk, Russia, and they carried an environmental message

for the closing ceremonies at Lillehammer. In 1997 through 2001, Lani Dupree and Job Holshire of Australia

were the first to successfully circumnavigate the island of Greenland. He did so with sea kayaks and dog sleds. So that was

3,442 miles by dog sled, 3,075 miles by kayak. 2006, the One World Expedition, Lani Dupree and
