This is your host, Kurt Linville, and today's topic is scuba diving with Derek Prosser. Derek became a scuba diving instructor in Texas way back in 1984. After that, he worked for a few years in Florida as a diving instructor, and now he resides in Colorado, where he is the owner-operator of underwater fantasies.

So, Derek, tell us a little bit more about yourself, about your love for scuba diving

and about your involvement with that.

Well, I got involved when I was going to college in Texas back in the

80s. I decided that wasn't working out for me too well. I found myself daydreaming more about the

islands than thinking about algebra. So I actually dropped out of college, became certified,

and then spent the next year working on my training

to become an instructor, which I did in 1984.

And then I immediately moved to Florida.

I was trying to decide where to go once I became an instructor, and I had heard Florida

had warm water and California had cold water, so it didn't seem like a tough choice to me at all.
