All right, welcome back to day two of the hunt recap from Colorado.

We're back at the truck after the, I guess it's the first full day of hunting.

And I'm joined here again by my dad, Joe.

Dad, how was day two?

Well, day two was uh not what we expected uh we pretty much went through and uh

did not locate any elk today uh found a lot of old sign um covered a lot of ground, and still not quite acclimated to the altitude, but that'll come with time.

Yeah, it was a little bit rough today.

We hiked all the way up to the top of the ridge above tree line, so up around 11,500 to 12,000 feet.

And did a little bit of glass in the morning.

And started after that, we kind of just jumped down into one of the basins where ran the elk in the past and figured that they'd be up there that

high with with it being this early in the season.

We were kind of warned by one of the biologists and another individual at the trailhead

that the elk weren't up high this year because of how dry it was.

It kind of pushed them down.

All the grasses had burnt and uh so we wanted to

kind of check it out for ourselves and see and put a lot of miles covering we just ran right above

the tree line there um below the top of the ridge and just basically went through looking for

fresh sign and bugling down into the dark timber

and kind of like we'd normally do during the rut and although they were not they're not

they haven't really started bugling at least in this area yet but just kept running running above that
