This week, I'm talking with two creators who made the move from YouTube and social media to their own TV show, which is the dream, right?

My guest are Brian Jordan Alvarez and Stephanie Kainik, and they are the two stars of the new FX show, English teacher.

They both play teachers, but this is not your ordinary high school teacher sitcom.

Ryan's character is an out gay man in Texas, navigating just how much he can be himself at school.

What? You're scared to come out? It's 2024. Just go in the hall and say I'm gay. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be mean. Like, I can't help you with this. This is, I grew up in the 90s. That was different. Just go and get advice from kids your age. And Stephanie plays a teacher who is maybe a pushover and maybe has a deadbeat boyfriend and does not in any way have it all

figured out.
