Good morning today is Wednesday February 27th. My name is Edgar Descenti and these are Puerto Rico's top news for the day.

We start off with Puerto Rico's Secretary of State denying that U.S. authorities were using Puerto Rico and our humanitarian aid ship as a way to provoke Venezuela and to get weapons into the country in order to help create an insurrection. The comments come after a Russian news publisher,

poster article saying that the US government was sending special force operators

to Puerto Rico and to Colombia in order to coordinate an attack on Venezuela

and that the Puerto Rican ship was merely a PR stunt

and that the real reason behind it was they were trying to smuggle weapons into the country.

So Puerto Rico's Secretary of State is denying this completely and he says this was simply

a humanitarian mission which had nothing else behind it.

We move on to US news and a really good news for Puerto Rico. Republicans in the Senate are backing a new bill

that would, among other things, grant Puerto Rico $600 million in food stamps, additional

and additional $600 million in food stamps. The bill is aimed to help the agricultural sector,

but thanks to lobbying from private citizens, private corporations and the government in Puerto Rico.

Senators in the US moved to include this bill, or to add this to the bill.

The Senators that actually helped the most, according to Jennifer González, were Rixca

and Marco Rubio from both from Florida, who helped introduce this $600 million into the bill.

This is really important because what the rigo does not

receive the same type of snap benefits that states do.

So instead of receiving help for every single person that

qualifies for food stamps, we receive a lump sum payment.

And the government has to receive a lump sum payment.

And the government had the necessary to demonstrate that lump sum payment and make it help as many people as possible.

The thing is, the current lump sum payment only covers about 50% of the population, which would receive snap benefits. So if these $600 million were not granted or are not granted before
